Join artist Becca Smith in co-creating a stitched map of Buxton. Our map base will be a specially-made cyanotype print using a variety of objects unique to Buxton, from our Pre and Post-Roman heritage and Industrial movements. You will be able to use simple stitch techniques to add places special to you, routes and roads, memories and visions for the future. All materials provided and no experience needed. You’ll be inspired and guided all the way. Becca has delivered Sew Your Place projects for Leek Textile Week and Kew Gardens and is currently working on the Macclesfield History Tapestry, a collaborative map in the Bayeux style.
This activity forms a key part of the Made in Buxton Project, celebrating creative identity, place‑making and the heritage that shapes the town. By contributing your stitches, you’ll help build a communal artwork that reflects Buxton’s past, present and future through the creativity of its community.
