Love Music Hate Racism x Notting Hill Carnival 2026
About this Event

August 2026 marks the 60th anniversary of Notting Hill Carnival, taking place on 30–31 August. This year, Love Music Hate Racism is once again partnering with Hotwax to party with a purpose, celebrating the communities that have shaped carnival and championing the values of diversity, unity and resistance to racism.
The 2026 float theme, "Road Make To Walk", commemorates the struggle to keep Carnival on the streets of Notting Hill in August 1976. Fifty years ago, members of the Caribbean community successfully resisted attempts by the police, local authorities and a small number of residents to move Carnival away from its home. Their determination safeguarded the right of Black communities to independent cultural expression and social organisation, helping to secure the future of the vibrant, multicultural celebration we know today.
At a time when racist and divisive rhetoric about immigration continues to be amplified by some politicians and sections of the media, we want to celebrate Carnival's enduring role as a powerful expression of community and solidarity.
Come dance, celebrate and stand together with us as we honour the legacy of those who fought to keep Carnival alive.
