The Greens are calling for a moratorium on hyper-scale AI data centres until their impacts on our energy system, environment and communities are fully understood. Lorneville residents, together with over 1000 New Brunswickers who have signed our petition have been clear: they do not support this project and they deserve answers about how these projects could affect them and their communities.
Participatory democracy - one of the core principles of the Green Party - means that New Brunswickers must have meaningful opportunities to participate in the decisions that affect their lives. Across North America, citizens have organized to say NO to hyper-scale AI data centres in their communities. Residents of Lorneville and people across the province have been working hard to do the same here in New Brunswick - and they deserve a voice in the legislature.
Let's work to bridge the gap between government decisions and citizen engagement.
