About this Event
(PLEASE REGISTER EACH PARTICIPANT SEPARATELY)
Loop de Ville Fest is a full day of guided group hikes, walks, runs, bike rides and accessible strolls on the Rivanna Trail, followed by an after party and outdoor concert.
This is your chance to experience a guided and supported hike, run, or bike on the ~20 mile loop of trails that encircle our city!
Don't want to do 20 miles? No problem! We’ve got shorter options that only cover small sections of the loop. Join for what you want and nothing more. Some folks are even doing team relays!
All events are FREE with an optional donation and you do not have to do a trail event to enjoy the concert! This year's after party entertainment features Ebony Groove with DJ Double U!
Looking for a different activity or pace group? Visit to view all options and register.
TICKETS ARE NOT REQUIRED FOR AFTER PARTY ENTRY!!
ABOUT THE RIDE
Join CAMBC for a group bike ride around the City on the Rivanna Trail! This is a medium- to brisk-paced ride, approximately 4-5 hours, suitable for experienced riders who roll at a steady pace, who prefer a brisk pace, or have previously ridden the full 20 mile Rivanna Trail loop in under 5 hours. If you have never ridden the full loop and/or you are new to mountain biking, or if you prefer a slow and leisurely pace, please check out the Novice/Slow group option. If you prefer to ride fast please check out the Advanced/Fast ride. All groups will have a ride leader and a sweeper to assure no one gets lost or left behind, and there will be stops at aid stations and van-assisted bail-out points.
Distance: ~ 20 miles.
Cycling time: approximately 4-5 hours according to ability and speed. We will be splitting into groups according to ability and experience, and there will be van-assisted bail out points.
Start: The Rivanna River Co. is located at 1518 E High St (behind the new Hogwaller Brewing). Parking is available along Riverdale Drive and in the Burnley-Moran Elementary school parking lot, across High Street from our meeting point (map below). We leave from the CAMBC tent promptly at 1:00 pm ("wheels down").
Finish: We'll end back at the Rivanna River Company around 5:00 pm for the concert. Beer and food can be purchased at Hogwaller Brewing all afternoon. Local beer, wine, and food trucks will be on-site at Rivanna River Co. starting at 12:00 pm, with the concert beginning at 4:30 pm.
Bailout Points / Sag Wagon: We plan to have a sag wagon making regular rounds to all Cheer Zones. If you get in over your head (or just wanna do less mileage), you're welcome to wait for the sag at any of the 7 on-route Cheer Zones to catch a ride back to Rivanna River Co. The sag wagon will be able to accommodate bikes.
What to bring: a sturdy fat-tire mountain bike with gears - this ride is not recommended for hybrid or skinny-tire bikes - clothes and helmet appropriate for “urban wilderness” riding and the weather conditions, water and snacks, and any personal needs. There are a number of rock-hops and smaller streams to cross, so participants can expect wet toes.
There will be 7 aid stations along the way with water and snacks. All riders should have a fat-tire geared bike, sturdy footwear, helmet, gloves, and water. Carrying a spare tube is recommended. Dress for the weather.
Important note: This is a strenuous ride - and is not suitable for first-time cyclists or children younger than 12. If you are unsure about your ability, please consider the 6-hour ride that begins at 11:00. The RT is mostly a primitive trail, and this group is meant for experienced riders. The bail-out option means no pressure to do the whole 20 miles, but everyone will be encouraged to finish as much as they can. This is a NO DROP ride - no one will be left behind.
