Loop de 'Ville Fest 2024 — RUN the Loop

Loop de Ville Fest is a full day of guided group hikes, walks, runs, bike rides and accessible strolls on the Rivanna Trail, followed by an after party and outdoor concert.

This is your chance to experience a guided and supported hike, run, or bike on the ~20 mile loop of trails that encircle our city!

Don't want to do 20 miles? No problem! We’ve got shorter options that only cover small sections of the loop. Join for what you want and nothing more. Some folks are even doing team relays!

All events are FREE with an optional donation and you do not have to do a trail event to enjoy the concert! This year's after party entertainment features Ebony Groove with DJ Double U!

This is a group run on the entire, nearly 20-mile loop of trail that encircles the city of Charlottesville.

Distance: ~ 20 miles.

Run time: approximately 4 hours. This is variable due to rest stops and running speeds. We are not out to set any time record, but will keep a steady pace.

We run around the City in counterclockwise direction, using road walks and detours where necessary.

There will be about 7 on-course aid stations plus one at the start/finish, but aside from the supplies at the Cheer Zones, this run is self-supported and all participants are responsible for their own navigation, water, and snacks. Navigation notes, rest stops, and water locations will be included in your confirmation emails.

Start: The Rivanna River Co. is located at 1518 E High St (behind the new Hogwaller Brewing). Parking is available along Riverdale Drive and in the Burnley-Moran Elementary school parking lot, across High Street from our meeting point (map below). We leave from the RTF tent promptly at 8:00 am. Please plan to be parked and arrive on-site at RRC by 7:30 am to check in.

Finish: We'll end back at the Rivanna River Company around lunch time, with plenty of time to rest up before the concert.

Bailout Points / Sag Wagon: We plan to have a sag wagon making regular rounds to all Cheer Zones. If you get in over your head (or just wanna do less mileage), you're welcome to wait for the sag at any of the 7 on-route Cheer Zones to catch a ride back to Rivanna River Co. The sag wagon will be able to accomodate bikes.

Important note: This is a strenuous run — 20 miles over occasionally uneven terrain. We will have a number of volunteers in our group, and over the course of the run may spread out into faster and slower groups, but assess your endurance honestly. . . and break in your shoes before the day!
