A three-week course looking at the history of the river Kennet
from prehistory to the present day, including the creation of the waterway from Reading in the 18 th century, its continuation as the Kennet & Avon Canal, and the campaign to restore the canal in the 20th century.
David Peacock has researched, written about and taught the
history of West Berkshire and the Newbury area for many years.
He is the author of the 2011 edition of The Story of Newbury.
