About this Event

CLOTHES SWAP

Clothes swaps are an opportunity to circulate clothes and accessories with other members of your community.

350,000 tonnes, that’s around £140 million worth of used but still wearable clothing goes to landfill in the UK every year and we want to prevent that from happening so bring your clothes along and swap for something new to you. Only together can we make a difference.

HOW IT WORKS

Please bring no more than 5 items of clothing, accessories and/or footwear freshly cleaned * and ready to go on the racks. We accept all shapes and sizes including children's clothing.

We offer a token system for customers who bring no more than 5 items. Items will be categorised into relevant tiers (1 token under £50, 2 tokens over £50) based on the type, brand, RRP and condition. This will dictate how many tokens you can use to shop for new items. 2 token items will have a yellow sticker assigned to them.

This is a community driven swap where we accept items from high street up to high end.

“Instead of buying new clothes, I wait to see what I can get at the next swap. Sometimes I get something to try that's a very different style to normal... After all, if I decide I don't like it, I can always swap it again! “

DROP 11:30- 15:00

Rolling drop and swap - You will be able to drop and swap all day from Midday until 3:30pm.

We open the doors for drop only at 11:30am, this gives us chance to populate the shop before we officially open the doors for swapping at 12:00pm.

Bring up to 5 items to trade for tokens. Items will be assessed by the Swap Shop Assistants on arrival and displayed on the rails. Once the items are traded for tokens they go straight onto the shop floor, so make sure you are 100% sure before you pass them over.

SWAP

12:00- 15:30

Browse the rails and use your token currency to exchange for new preloved items. You can only swap if you have dropped items during the drop period.

If you don't use all your tokens you can save and bring to the next clothes swap.

“I save things for swaps which I would otherwise take to charity / post on Vinted. These are honestly incredible events! “

Learn Sashiko: Japanese Visible Mending Workshop with Mika Sembongi

Discover the art of Sashiko, a traditional Japanese stitching technique, in this hands-on drop-in workshop led by Japanese textile artist Mika Sembongi.

Meaning “little stabs,” Sashiko originated in Japan during the Edo period as a practical method used by farmers and fishermen to repair, reinforce, and extend the life of worn clothing. Over time, it evolved into a celebrated decorative craft, admired for its striking geometric patterns and its mindful, sustainable approach to textiles.

In this relaxed drop-in session between 12pm and 2pm, participants will learn the basics of Sashiko stitching while exploring traditional Japanese patterns and visible mending techniques. You’ll learn how to trace and stitch classic designs to patch, repair, and embellish your clothing, combining function with creativity and slow craftsmanship.

This technique is especially suitable for woven fabrics such as denim and jeans.

You are welcome to bring your own garments to mend and decorate, or practice on fabric provided during the workshop.
