KARiS is the electrifying new force in rock music—a young, scrappy band bursting with raw energy and a polished sound that feels like decades of experience. Founded by vocalist and guitarist Karis Adderly, this Raleigh, NC native channels her journey through love, loss, bullying, and identity into powerful, original songs. As a Black girl deeply connected to rock, Karis blends the fierce edge of ’90s and early ’00s alt-rock legends like Nirvana, Smashing Pumpkins, and Deftones with hauntingly beautiful acoustic vibes reminiscent of Phoebe Bridgers and Mazzy Star.
Each track is packed with unforgettable hooks that stick after one listen. In early 2026, Karis teamed up with producers Matt Grady and Adam Mobarek to release the bold and impactful *My First EP*—three songs showcasing her remarkable creative range and lyrical depth. To bring this music to life on stage, Karis formed KARiS, a powerhouse band of high school prodigies: Emily Strunk on bass, Mel Lama’an-El shredding lead guitar, and Maceo Grady commanding the drums.
Within months, KARiS made waves across North Carolina, from Greensboro to Raleigh, clinching the title at The Portal’s Battle of the Bands in Spring 2026. With over 7,000 TikTok followers and a growing fanbase worldwide, KARiS is poised to redefine the future of rock music—raw, real, and unstoppable.
