Step into NY2044 and immerse yourself in the memories and visions of New York City with Noah Fischer!
About this Event

Presented in partnership with The Clemente Soto Vélez Cultural & Educational Center, The Shape of Cities to Come Institute, and magazine.

With support from the Puffin Foundation.

With so much hanging in the balance this midterm election, and the news blaring apocalyptic stories each day (whether the end of democracy or the end of humanity itself), we invite you to an immersive gathering inside the memories and visions of New York City.

New York 2044 is a speculative newspaper from about 20 years in the future, reporting from the imaginations of New Yorkers. The project begins with the principle that to organize toward a better future, we need to see it concretely, and that this future exists in the wisdom of lived human experience.

Presented live on stage, artist Noah Fischer hosts the NY2044 Newsdesk—accompanied by video projections and a live soundscape by Rabbistravinski. Invited guests bring poignant memories from the past, alongside visions and nuanced scenarios of a thriving future city. The evening closes with a public conversation, hosted by urbanist Cassim Shepard. NY2044: Hope and Historias is co-presented with Urban Omnibus magazine, which is publishing part of the current NY2044 issue.
