On Saturday, October 17 at 6 p.m., Hawaiʻi Public Radio celebrates the 50th Anniversary of Protect Kahoʻolawe ʻOhana (PKO) and the release of their commemorative album.

Protect Kahoʻolawe ʻOhana: 50 Years of Aloha ʻĀina — Album Concert

Join Hawaiʻi Public Radio for an intimate evening celebrating the music, moʻolelo, and legacy of the Protect Kahoʻolawe ʻOhana.

Hosted by DJ Mermaid (Paige Okamura), host of HPR’s Hawaiʻi Kulāiwi, this special concert celebrates 50 Years of Aloha ʻĀina, a new music album honoring five decades of the Protect Kahoʻolawe ʻOhana’s work and the enduring movement to mālama Kahoʻolawe.

Featuring music inspired by Kanaloa, Kahoʻolawe, aloha ʻāina, and the people and stories connected to the island, the evening brings together artists and community in celebration of this important legacy.

Please note: This will primarily be a standing-room event with limited seating available.

Doors open at 5:30 p.m.
Performance begins at 6:00 p.m.

The mission of Protect Kahoʻolawe ʻOhana is to perpetuate Aloha ‘Āina throughout our islands through cultural, educational, and spiritual activities that heal and revitalize the cultural and natural resources on Kaho‘olawe.

The Live from the Atherton Storytellers' Series takes place at the Atherton Performing Arts studio at Hawaiʻi Public Radio. Doors open thirty minutes before the event starts.

This event will be filmed, recorded and photographed. Your presence constitutes your release of all rights to your recorded voice and image, which may be used in projects by Hawaiʻi Public Radio.

Seating is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis — advance ticket purchase is strongly suggested.

Parking: Street parking is available in the surrounding neighborhood (metered parking is free after 6 p.m.).
