Pan Pacific Convention and FWD 80th Anniversary Fall Convention • Location: Blaisdell Concert Hall, Honolulu HI • Dates: October 6-11, 2026
About this Event

Started in 1994, the Pan Pacific Convention was conceived to bring the barbershop contest and convention experience to the choruses in New Zealand, Australia, and Hawaii – three locales where distances made traveling to contest on the mainland US challenging. From those humble beginnings, the Pan Pacific Convention has grown to be a bucket list item for many barbershoppers from across the globe. Besides the three original locations, contestants and attendees now regularly travel from Japan and the West Coast of the United States.

Besides a great contest, you’ll also find a wealth of cultural experiences at the Pan Pacific Convention in Hawaii. We encourage you to spend a few days and explore our islands: see historic sites like Pearl Harbor and Iolani Palace; hit the beach for amazing snorkeling or a surfing lesson; expand your palate and taste foods from around the world; cool off under a waterfall after a rainforest hike; learn about the hula and how to make a lei at one of our luaus; or just relax and let the cool tradewinds carry your worries away.

Of course, what would a barbershop convention be without some amazing quartets and choruses! By hosting the Pan Pacific and the Far Western District conventions simultaneously, we’re sure to have a lineup of singers you won’t want to miss. And being an open contest, we have interest from top male, female, and mixed choruses and quartets from New Zealand, Australia, Hawaii, Japan, California, Washington, Oregon, Vancouver BC, and Arizona!

Contest - Blaisdell Concert Hall

We’ve secured the Neal S. Blaisdell Concert Hall as our contest venue. Built in 1964 and named for the Mayor of Honolulu who oversaw its construction, the Blaisdell Concert Hall is the premiere performing arts theatre in Honolulu. Housing the Honolulu Symphony, Hawaii Opera Theatre and many touring Broadway productions, the 2185 seat theatre is the perfect setting for our convention.

The Pan Pacific Contest is open to men’s, women’s, & mixed quartets/choruses regardless of location. All competitors (with exception of the Youth Dream Chorus) must be registered as an active member of BHS, SAI, HI or an affiliate organization. FWD chorus and quartets that do not qualify for FWD Fall Contest may compete in the Pan Pacific Open Contest

The Far Western District Contest is open to FWD quartets and choruses which have prequalified at the FWD spring conventions. This contest will also serve as an international qualifier for both quartets and choruses.
