Two FABULOUS poets from Flint—Lisa Sarno & Rachel Stock—will be featured at the Copper Chimney Poetry Series on Sunday, Feb.15th, 4 PM, at UUMC, 1120 S. Harrison Road, East Lansing—across the street from MSU and directly north of the Trowbridge Shopping Center.There will be an Open Mic after the social break, in which you (yes, YOU!) are invited to share a poem with the world's most attentive & welcoming audience. Those wishing to read a poem (3-4 min max) should throw their names in the multicolored basket on the Gate Table.
Lisa Sarno is a poet, musician & performer based in Flint, Michigan. She has worked for decades, focusing on trauma & healing in vulnerable populations. Lisa’s passion for poetry, individual expression of resistance & identity is fueled by her membership in The Voices of the Revolution, a poetry performance group powerhouse. Lisa published her first book of poetry, "Grasping at Stars" (Dec. 2024) & was named a finalist in the 2025 Golden Crown Literary Society Awards, The Goldies. More of Lisa’s work has been published in "Voices of the Revolution: Poems from the Resisterhood." On May 16th in Flint, MI, Lisa will appear in "The Awesome Difficult Work of Love," a spoken-word and musical collaboration of the late activist, poet, and writer June Jordan and Adrienne Torf, composer.
Rachel Stock is a poet and archivist based in Genesee County. Her poetry has appeared in Qua Magazine, Mississippi Review and in the anthology Michigan Emerging Poets.
