About this Event

Light the Page for Anti‑Racism

Story‑to‑Comic Workshop for Black Girls (Ages 12–17)

Racism affects young people early — and research shows that racialized youth are significantly more likely to experience discrimination, often impacting confidence, belonging, and mental well‑being. One of the strongest protective tools? Storytelling and creative self‑expression.

This interactive workshop gives Black girls the opportunity to:

  • Share their stories in a safe, affirming space
  • Learn how stories can challenge racism and stereotypes
  • Turn lived experiences into original comic art
  • Build confidence, creativity, and community

No art or writing experience is needed — just curiosity and an open mind.
