About this Event
Ready to fall in love with your run year? Join us on February 28 for a fun, practical, and empowering morning designed for runners of all levels: new, returning, seasoned, or somewhere in between.
This community event brings together experts to enhance your skills to become a more confident and capable runner. Be empowered by run coaches, professional athletes, registered dieticians, physical therapists and sports psychologists. Come learn, connect, and love your run season.

Who's Speaking?
Leanne Klassen: The 1/2 marathon and importance of speedowrk
Leanne is a certified run coach with an impressive run resume to match. She's won the Calgary Marathon, Edmonton Marathon and this year is toeing the line with the pro field at the 2026 Boston Marathon. With her workshop, get clarity on how to incorporate speedwork smartly and safely.
Matt Sheperd (Shep): Dive Into Ultra Marathons
Accomplished ultra runner, Sinister 7 trail master and entrepreneur, Shep knows how to go the distance. With stacked running accomplishments at Big Back Yard (281km), Across The Years in Arizona (701km) and 2nd place, he's no rookie to ultramarathons. Shep will take us through what it takes to deep dive into the ultra marathon and trail running.
Carla Robbins & Dr. Amy MacKinnon: Injury Prevention Hacks and Pain Management
Carla is an exercise physiologist and co-founder of Vital Performance Care. She works with a wide range of clients, from Olympians and national team athletes to high-performing professionals and individuals navigating long-standing injuries. Dr. Amy MacKinnon is also co-founder of Vital Performance Care and works with clients of all ages and activity levels but also has experience providing sports therapy and injury management to an array of different student, professional and Canadian National Team athletes.
Emma Cook-Clarke: Topic TBD
Emma is former professional firefighter turned full-time talented athlete with Arcteryc and Atomicski, specializing in trail running and skimo.
Carrie Mullin Innes: Run Nutrition, Simplified
Carrie has a Master’s of Science degree in Nutrition and completed an International Olympic Committee Diploma in Sports Nutrition. Carrie works full time at the Sports Medicine Centre at the University of Calgary and will be walking us through fuelling our runs and race-day strategies.
Dr. Matt Brown: Sports Psychology
With a Master’s degree in Sport Psychology and a Doctorate in Counselling Psychology that specialized in athletes, Matt has a deep understanding of the thoughts, emotions, and behaviours of the athlete. Explore mental reset techniques, motivation, confidence-building strategies, and tools to help you navigate tough runs, training slumps, and race-day nerves. Matt works with the Calgary Flames, the Stampeders and several Olympians.

Because parents deserve to train, learn, and thrive too. We’re providing supervised childcare so you can focus fully on your sessions.
