A two-hour walking tour of Bristol city centre and your guide will tell you about some 300 years of its extraordinary queer history.About this Event
Nick of OutStories Bristol, a community group that records the social history local LGBTQ+ people will tell you about some of the city's hidden history.
Stories include two men sentenced to death in 1753 for sex in the back room of a pub, a “female sailor boy” in the 1850s, lesbian suffragettes in the early 1900s, the pub that was frequented by gays from at least the 1930s, and the first person in the world to undergo full surgical transition from female to male in the 1940s.
Sunday 17th May, 2pm-4pm
Meet outside Brewdog Bristol, 58 Baldwin Street, BS1 1QW
The walk is about one mile, will take approximately two hours, and end near Frogmore Street. It includes going up Christmas Steps but an alternative route is in place if anyone has mobility issues.
The tour is free but donations to OutStories Bristol will be appreciated.
For practical and road safety reasons, attendance is limited to 18 people. You must book your place on Eventbrite.
