The theme of this year’s Holocaust Memorial Day is ‘For a Better Future’
Communities are urged to take action to raise awareness, promote solidarity and help prevent persecution. Holocaust Memorial Day Trust | Take action for a better future
HMD 2025 marks 80 years since the evacuation of the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp. This day is also a time to remember the many acts of genocide in recent years.
Under the Nazi Regime six million European Jews were victims of genocide between 1941-1945. At least 100,000 LGBT Europeans were, similarly, interned and executed at that time, just for being themselves. This is a lesser-known part of history, after all, LGBT people were at that time still considered criminals and deviants in the UK.
This is our first Craftivism* workshop of 2025 please keep an eye out for further sessions throughout the year Rainbow Bedfordshire LGBTQ+ Events & Fundraisers

*Craftivism was defined by it's founder Betsy Greer in 2003 as ‘the practice of engaged creativity, especially regarding political or social causes.’
