About this Event

Why Attend?

The forum will bring together key stakeholders from NHS, local councils, and voluntary, community and faith groups to explore the impact of housing, food and services on the health of migrants, refugees and asylum seekers in South East London, particularly in the context of the new neighbourhood health model.

What’s in it for you?

  • Collaborate & Lead: Take an active role as a table moderator or note taker, helping guide discussions and capture insights.
  • Showcase Good Practice: Share your work and highlight successful approaches to improving health outcomes.
  • Institutional Mapping: Contribute to mapping health care systems across SE London to identify gaps and opportunities.

The opportunity:

  • Consult on health and key social determinants—housing, food, education—with local migrant communities.
  • Hear real experiences from our research project, uncovering challenges like homelessness among established communities and stories from those resettled through UK schemes.
  • Reflect on institutional power and partnership dynamics in Lewisham and Greenwich, and co-create strategies to reduce health inequalities for asylum seekers, refugees, and migrants.
  • Network with stakeholders committed to change and co-develop a framework for local systems that fosters collaboration and equity.

Who should attend?
Health professionals, council representatives, community leaders, and anyone passionate about improving health and wellbeing for refugees and migrants in SE London.

Let’s work together to make health systems fairer and more inclusive.

Organised by Lewisham Refugee and Migrant Network (LRMN), Creating Ground and Greenwich University this forum is part of a national research project funded by UK Research and Innovation (UKRI).

A light lunch will be provided.

Study title: Co-creating asset and place-based approaches to tackling refugee and migrant health exclusion.

Study approved by Greenwich University Research Ethics Committee.
