The and Bloomin' PGC Partners invite you to participate in our upcoming Urban Farmers & Growers Open Mic Night! This event is a platform for the urban farm community to collaborate and share useful information. While the focus is on urban ag conservation, any topic is open for discussion. All farmers (not just PGC urban farms) and growers are welcome to join us!

Must have at least 12 farmers registered BY NOON the day before the Open Mic Night or it's subject to cancellation.

Leveraging Local, State + Federal Financial Incentive Programs with Fat Cardinal Farm

Tim and Danielle run Fat Cardinal Farm, which is a 1/4 acre urban farm in Bowie that grows vegetables, small fruits and flowers. They have leveraged various grant opportunities to build infrastructure including a 60 foot high tunnel, frost free hydrants for irrigation, power supply to the high tunnel, and a pollinator habitat. In addition, they have received the County's Urban Ag Property Tax Credit. They will take you on a tour of their farm infrastructure and discuss how the grants they received enabled them to scale, become more efficient, and improve soil health.

About Tim Young + Danielle Stowe

Danielle Young is a first-generation farmer with a growing passion for regenerative agriculture. She has an educational background in biology and ecology. Her favorite part of farming is connecting with the local community, and her favorite flower to grow is Lisianthus “First Love.”

Tim Young has been interested in growing food since working at an organic farm in southern Maryland while attending college. Since then, he has worked with community supported agriculture (CSA) organizations and urban farm collectives in San Diego, and had back-yard gardens in graduate school and while living in Los Angeles. His full-time job is as an economist (unrelated to agriculture), and he spends many nights and weekends working at Fat Cardinal Farm. His favorite tomato is Brandywine.

Networking begins at 4:30 and the program will begin promptly at 5:00pm. Light refreshments will be provided.
