Mental health challenges do not disappear with age—in fact, older adults often face unique emotional struggles that can go unnoticed. Depression, anxiety, and even thoughts of suicide are more common among aging adults than many people realize, yet they are frequently misunderstood or dismissed as a “normal” part of getting older.This seminar will shed light on the signs, symptoms, and risk factors of mental illness in aging, while also emphasizing hope and support.
Our expert panelists will discuss:
• How depression and anxiety present differently in older adults
• The impact of isolation, chronic illness, and loss on mental well-being
• Warning signs of suicidality and when to seek help
• Resources and strategies to promote resilience, connection, and mental health in later life
The goal of this session is to reduce stigma, provide education, and empower both older adults and their families to recognize concerns early and seek appropriate care.
