Oleksandra Shevliuga, sýningarstjóri leiðir gesti um sýninguna Úkraínskar helgimyndir.
Sýning á úkraínskum íkonum frá Þjóðlistasafni Úkraínu í Kænugarði beinir kastljósinu að ríkulegum menningararfi Úkraínu. Verkin spanna sögu kristinnar myndlistar Úkraínu frá lokum 12. aldar til upphafs þeirrar 19. og rekur þróunina frá fyrstu áhrifum býsanskrar menningar og síðar gotneskrar listar og endurreisnar. Barokktíminn bar með sér nýja strauma sem einkenndust af veraldlegu myndefni, ríkulegri litanotkun og íburðamiklum skreytingum.
Sýningin er samstarfsverkefni Listasafns Íslands, Þjóðminjasafns Íslands og Þjóðlistasafns Úkraínu með beinum stuðningi frá Menningarráðuneyti og Utanríkisráðuneyti og miðar að því að efla menningarsamskipti milli landanna.
Leiðsögnin fer fram á ensku.

Oleksandra Shevliuga, curator guides guests through the exhibition, Icons from the Ukraine.
The rich cultural heritage of Ukrainian icon painting will be presented in an exhibition of works from the collection of the National Art Museum of Ukraine in Kyiv. With a focus on Christian painting, the works in the exhibition span the period from the late 12th to the early 19th century, tracing the development of Ukrainian art from the early influence of Byzantine culture and, later, that of Gothic and Renaissance art. The Baroque era brought new influences on Ukraine’s national culture, characterized by the introduction of secular motifs, rich color palettes, and magnificent decorative embellishment.
The exhibition is a collaboration among the National Gallery, the National Museum of Iceland, and the National Art Museum of Ukraine to promote cultural exchange.
The event will be held in English.
A valid museum admission ticket is required to attend the event.
