🧠Lecture: "The Paris Wine Tasting of 1976: Wine Then, Now & Beyond"
🎤 Speaker: Professor Torrey Grant
Join us for a captivating evening as Professor Torrey Grant uncorks the story of the legendary 1976 “Judgement of Paris,” the blind tasting that upended the wine world and forever changed how American wines were seen.
On the 50th anniversary of this historic event, we’ll explore the hype, the facts, and how the story has evolved over five decades. Was it a one-time upset or the beginning of a global wine revolution? How did this moment reshape what we drink, how we judge quality, and which regions command respect today?
Professor Grant—who teaches the popular “Beer and Wine Appreciation” course at Syracuse University—brings both expertise and a playful sensibility to the glass. As a retail consultant and educator for Wegmans and Liquor City, he’s known for pairing Champagne with hotdogs and celebrating wines that are both serious and fun.
Come for the history, stay for the stories, and leave with a new appreciation of what’s in your glass.
