🧠Lecture: "Cosmic Weather Report"
🎤 Speaker: Dr. Mark Popinchalk
We’ve got rain, clouds, and storms on Earth—but what’s the weather like in space? From particle showers and cosmic rays to powerful magnetic fields, the space around us is full of wild and changing conditions. It may look like “clear skies” now, but our Solar System has been seriously battered in the past.
Join Dr. Mark Popinchalk as he explores how these cosmic forces shape planets, atmospheres, and even life on Earth—and how “Spaceship Earth” keeps pulling through it all. You’ll leave with a new appreciation for the invisible storms that rage above our heads and across the galaxy.
Dr. Mark Popinchalk is a postdoc at the American Museum of Natural History, an adjunct professor at NYU, and the host of the late-night science comedy talk show Science, Tonight! He is also a planetarium presenter, ultimate frisbee player, and bread maker.
