Bienvenue au Coin Français de Newmarket!

Our monthly gatherings are designed for anyone with a passion for the French language and a desire to converse in a relaxed and welcoming environment. This spontaneous conversation group welcomes ADULTS/18+ (from Francophones..to strong beginners) who are looking to practice their French CONVERSATION SKILLS.

Ce groupe de conversation spontanée accueille des ADULTES/18+ (des FRANCOPHONES... aux débutants forts) qui cherchent à mettre en pratique leurs COMPÉTENCES DE CONVERSATION en français.

Nos sessions seront informelles et dépendront de l'initiative, de la créativité et de la curiosité de chaque participant. The meetings are NOT FRENCH CLASSES, they are an opportunity for French conversations. In order to benefit, participants need to be able to hold at least a basic French conversation.

Nos membres sont merveilleusement disciplinés quand il s'agit de ne pas parler anglais.

Francophones and stronger speakers are encouraged to share their French language skills. Those needing a helping hand are encouraged to actively seek a helping hand.

Mission: Le Coin Français de Newmarket aims to provide a comfortable avenue for individuals to engage in meaningful discussions in the French language. Don’t be surprised if you find some new friends. We believe that language learning is not only about mastering words but also about connecting with people.

Our mission is threefold:

Facilitate French Conversation - We encourage participants to express themselves in French, allowing them to practice and improve their language skills through interactive conversations.

Cultivate a Friendly Atmosphere - Our group is dedicated to creating a warm, inclusive, and respectful setting where participants can comfortably share their thoughts and experiences in French.

Varied Language Levels - We welcome individuals with diverse French language proficiency, from strong beginners to native speakers. This diversity ensures dynamic discussions and valuable learning experiences.

Meeting Schedule and Format:

Le Coin Français de Newmarket meets :1) on the 2nd Sunday (with some exceptions for holidays) of each month at 3pm in the front café in Farm Boy, Newmarket and 2) on the fourth Wednesday of each month at 6:30 pm at Paris Baguette, Newmarket , allowing participants to pencil in these engaging events on their calendars. Sessions last for an hour and a half, providing ample time for meaningful conversations.

During our sessions, participants are encouraged to choose a table with three other attendees. This table arrangement is designed to create an intimate setting that facilitates discussions. However, halfway through the session, we encourage participants to mix tables, enabling them to interact with a wider range of individuals. This promotes diverse conversations and further strengthens connections.
