Doors open at 6:30 and the program starts at 7 p.m. Convenient parking is available in the lot next to the Lohman Building (100 Jefferson St.).
September's Program: "Archaeology of the Phenix Company Town: A rural backwater of poverty and illiteracy"
The Phenix Stone and Lime Company, near Ash Grove, Missouri, produced structural stone and decorative elements used in the Missouri Sate Capitol and many other early 20th century buildings. In this presentation, Drs. Scott Worman and Liz Sobel of Missouri State University present the results of archaeological investigations of the Phenix Company Town site, where many of the quarry workers lived.
