It’s an honor for the Crazy Horse to host KVMRx’s 9th Anniversary Party. This “off the dial” Nevada County community radio station caters to a wide range of musical tastes including punk, metal, jazz, rock, funk, hip-hop, fusion, K-pop, electronic, beats, garage, and more. They are the alternative alter-ego to KVMR, broadcasting live, 24/7 365.The main feature event will be a live broadcast from Mystic Al. His show – Mystic Al’s Funk Train Xpress – is one of the original weekly radio shows that got the X roaring out of the gates. A music industry veteran since the 80s, he shares the heartbeat of soul and funk throughout the region. Mystic Al channels funk from the outer limits of the universe down to the dancefloor as if carried on a lightning bolt. This will be his first time broadcasting from the CH, so you can be sure he’ll be bringing the extra heat.
An old friend of the CH and the host of KVMRx’s “Cretaceous Space,” Kronosaurus Flex will be igniting the dancefloor with his funky, soulful rare grooves, international boogaloo, hip hop and genre-bending eclectica. Additional entertainers include DJ Lucas who plays romantic pop, largely from the 80’s, as well as contemporary releases traversing the realms of jazzy post-punk, cosmic lounge and Italo disco. DJ Sapphire (aka Sam) is a longtime KVMRX family member who dishes out gyaru, parapara and Eurobeat. His show “The Energy Hour” transports listeners straight to a Tokyo nightclub.
There will be giveaways throughout the night. While there is no cover charge, it’s greatly appreciated if you come prepared to contribute as generously as you are able to keep this vital community resource going strong. This night is the kickoff to their pledge drive, so it will be a beautiful thing for us to help launch it on a positive foot.
