Once a vibrant landscape dominated by rubber plantations and farming communities, this neighborhood has transformed into a thriving heartland. Yet, remnants of its diverse past are hidden in plain sight, waiting for the curious resident to look closer.

Kovan is also a testament to Singapore’s unique multi-religious tapestry. The walk highlights iconic architectural gems representing different faiths, from early house churches to historic mosques and the oldest Taoist temple dedicated to the Nine Emperor Gods. Each sacred space tells a profound story of early immigrant communities finding their home here.

Led by Serai’s expert, licensed storytellers, this free heritage walk is specially curated for locals who want to see their city with fresh eyes. Whether you pass through Kovan every day or have never visited, you will walk away with brand-new historical narratives and a deeper appreciation for our shared heritage.

We offer this heritage walk for free as a way of giving back to the community. We trust you would not take a ticket and not show up.

Please take note of the following:

1. The meeting point is at the street level of Kovan MRT Station Exit B.
2. This walk is scheduled for 60-90 minutes depending on the group size and walking pace.
3. Choose attire that keeps you cool and comfortable for walking.
4. Bring an umbrella or raincoat as this is a rain-or-shine event.
5. Have your water bottles with you to stay hydrated.
