KGM Shower Ministry at WMed Street Medicine Firehouse Clinic

Staff member Ron and volunteer Kellie bring the Kalamazoo Gospel Mission's shower and laundry trailer for its twice-monthly visit to the WMed Street Medicine Firehouse Free Clinic at 526 N. Burdick St., Ransom St. parking lot, on first and third Fridays from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. There are two showers and one washing machine. Guests are provided with new underwear, t-shirt, socks, and hygiene supplies. There is a strict 12-minute shower limit, with a 2-minute warning provided after 10 minutes. The hot water doesn't run out, because the trailer has a tank-less, on-demand water heater. The shower trailer runs seasonally through the end of September and is occasionally canceled when inclement weather is forecast or the unit breaks down.
