About this Event
Kenwood House: Rembrandt, Romanovs & the Charm of English Life
Tucked away on the edge of Hampstead Heath, Kenwood House feels like a secret you almost don’t expect to find in London. One moment you’re in the city — the next, you’re standing in front of a grand white villa surrounded by ancient trees, as if you’ve stepped into a novel.
On this walk, I’ll take you inside one of the most beautiful (and surprisingly intimate) houses in London — and into a world where art, history, and everyday life intertwine.
We’ll see a real Vermeer, stand in front of Rembrandt, and wander through rooms filled with some of the finest examples of British painting. But this isn’t just about “seeing masterpieces.” It’s about learning how to look at them — and how they connect to the bigger story of England.
I’m Lisa Lobanova — an art historian and a current volunteer at Kenwood House — and I’d love to share this place with you the way I’ve come to know it: not as a museum, but as a living, layered space full of stories.
This is a relaxed, small-group experience — more like a thoughtful walk with a friend who happens to love art a little too much.
If you’ve been looking for an excuse to spend a beautiful day in one of London’s most magical corners — this might be it.
We’ll meet at the main entrance of Kenwood House.
