Kaporos Chicken Care Vigils

Kaporos Compassion Project
For the past 12 years, our team has stood on the streets during Kaporos, bearing witness to the suffering of thousands of birds. Over that time, we have learned one of the most important lessons of our work:
Compassion changes hearts more effectively than confrontation.
The moments that have stayed with us the most were never the arguments. They were the moments when a child stopped to gently feed a thirsty bird. When someone looked into a chicken’s eyes for the very first time and saw an individual instead of an object. When compassion quietly replaced indifference.
That is why, after taking a pause from public actions, we are returning with a renewed purpose.
This is the Kaporos Compassion Project.
Our actions will focus on one thing above all else: being in service to the animals.
We invite everyone, regardless of background, faith, or beliefs, to join us if your purpose is to feed the birds, bear witness with compassion, and help others see these animals as living beings worthy of kindness.
And your presence matters. The more people who come together in compassion, the greater our ability to create opportunities for birds to be surrendered rather than left behind. When there are birds in need and an opportunity for rescue arises, having a strong community present gives us greater influence to help those birds find safety and a new life.
What we are not doing is creating a platform for political agendas, hostility, or hatred of any kind. Those things do nothing to help the birds, and they are not welcome at our actions.
After more than a decade of this work, we believe the most powerful advocacy is often the quietest. A cup of water. A handful of food. A gentle interaction that inspires a child to care.
If we can help the next generation see these birds with compassion, we can help build a future where they no longer suffer.
If that is your mission too, we would be honored to stand beside you.
Lead with compassion. Always.
Because every bird deserves kindness.
