Santa Monica Dojo invites you to continue Part 2 of Kangeiko 2025.
Our 52nd Annual Kangeiko was interrupted by a series of tragic wildfires in the area. We're so grateful for all the courageous firefighters and first responders. Now, our city and communities are resolving to rebuild and heal.
In true karate spirit, let's get together and finish strong! We hope to see everyone.

According to "reliable sources" (aka Mr. Jeffrey French), this will be Santa Monica Dojo's 52nd special winter training! Sensei Field often reminded us of the importance of keeping traditions, so please be invited to train with us every day during the first complete week of the year, at 6 AM daily.
The purpose of Kangeiko is to cleanse our spirit, to refocus, and to mentally prepare ourselves for the challenges of the upcoming year. Personal issues, politics, previous problems and external matters should not be brought onto the dojo floor. Being finished with the past, Kangeiko is an opportunity to begin a new period with a clean slate, and with focus, determination and power to forge ahead.
For those who can't train at the dojo in person, we are planning to webcast from Santa Monica Dojo every day on ZOOM. All you need to train with us is a small training area at home, and an Internet-connected tablet, computer, phone, or TV.
Back by popular demand: Instead of going to a restaurant, we will have breakfast catered at the dojo after the final training on Saturday. Join us for a Hawaiian inspired breakfast from Rutt’s Hawaiian Cafe, a popular Westside institution since 1976! On the menu: Hawaiian style French toast, scrambled eggs, bacon, breakfast potatoes, and their ever popular spam musubi and Portuguese sausage! Coffee and orange juice will also be offered. Please pay in advance, so we can make sure to have enough food for everyone!
