We are delighted to welcome Jo Harkin into Waterstones Oxford to discuss her latest book, The Pretender, with Kiran Millwood Hargrave.
Waterstones Fiction Book of the Month for April 2026, The Pretender is an ambitious, brilliantly realised and thoroughly entertaining historical coming of age tale like no other. Set in 15th century England, a young peasant boy is groomed for power and made pretender to the throne as Edward Plantaganet.
Refreshments will be available to purchase from our cafe, including a wide range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages and sweet and savory snacks.
