Jazz Yoga: Rhythm + Renewal

Join ritual artist and wellness consultant Tara Aura (RYT-200 since 2014) for an unforgettable yoga experience at Arena Stage. Accompanied by the healing vibration of jazz music, this beginner-level yoga class blends breathwork, mindful movement, and meditative moments with a live, improvisational jazz guitar performance to help participants relieve stress and align with ease. Expect interesting harmonies, detailed verbal instructions, optional pose modifications for every body, and deep listening during our final relaxation pose. This program blends performance art, mindfulness, and social connection, offering both personal renewal and the joy of collective care. Please wear comfortable clothes and bring your own yoga mat to accommodate a comfortable sitting or lying position on the floor in our spacious, light-filled Study Hall.

About Tara Aura:

Tara Purnell aka Tara Aura is an interdisciplinary ritual artist and meditation guide, yoga teacher and wellness consultant dedicated to collective care and liberation. As a producer, sound healer and ritual artist, she combines her family’s rich legacy in jazz, arts education and community building with over 10,000 hours of mindfulness, musicianship and wellness practices. She was selected to be a 2025 artist-in-residence at The Kennedy Center; and she was awarded with a 2024–2025 fellowship from the DC Commission on the Arts & Humanities after a trailblazing tenure as Wellness Director at Eaton Workshop, the progressive hotel, co-working space and cultural institution where she produced over 700 community wellness events. Now in addition to teaching and performing meditation rituals, she produces transformative private experiences and public programs for prominent cultural institutions and universities, mission-driven brands, and faith-based organizations through her agency BLIND SEED, integrating culturally-relevant mental health resources with spiritual tools to inspire collective healing.
