J-Film | Sunset Sunrise
Presented by the Japan Information & Culture Center, Embassy of Japan and Japan Commerce Association of Washington D.C.
Our next J‑Film screening is Sunset Sunrise, a heartwarming comedy-drama about finding the silver linings in difficult times.
In 2020, as the pandemic forces Japan into lockdown, Shinsaku (SUDA Masaki)—a corporate salaryman and obsessive fishing enthusiast—decides to trade his cramped Tokyo life for the Sanriku Coast. Initially drawn in by cheap rent, he finds himself in a small seaside town working remotely and fishing to his heart’s content. The locals, still carrying the scars of the 2011 earthquake and tsunami, are wary of this upbeat outsider and are not so eager to welcome him to town.
Don’t miss this delightful "city-meets-country" dramedy about building bridges and healing wounds.
