Iowa River Clean Up 2026

Help clean up our river, and reduce the plastic waste making it downstream!
Volunteers will help to either canoe the Iowa River, stopping at sandbars along the way to fill canoes with trash, or help to unload trash from canoes at the finish in Hills Campground.
We'll remove everything from plastic bottles to huge truck tires buried in sand. There's always odd trash in the river, and we'll remove as much as we can dig out and fit in our boats.
This is the 10th year this event has been held. Over the years, volunteers have hauled out over 64 tons of trash, including a whopping 1042 tires.
This event is free to participate in, and no experience is necessary. Canoes will be provided to volunteers on a first-come first-served basis.
