Intuitive Weaving with Kat Howard
About this Event
In this workshop with textile artist Kat Howard, you will be guided through the process of hand-weaving a tapestry using waste yarns and fibres. Explore texture, technique and creativity while learning basic weaving skills on a frame loom.
Materials will be provided, but you are welcome to bring any fabrics of your own to include in your weaving.
Based in Kingston, New York, Kat is a sculptor and installation artist whose work traces the journey of healing from trauma. Through richly textured, abstract forms – from handwoven nets to braided cotton – she explores the relationship between materiality and the body.
To celebrate New York Textile Month, Kat will be creating a textile-based artwork honouring the transformative power of weaving and knitting. Crafted using repurposed TOAST fabrics, the piece draws inspiration from women in Greek mythology.
Tickets cost $35 and include all materials.
