We're delighted to announce the first Introduction to Partner Skating workshop with Drew B, where you'll be taught the lead and follow connection and how to dance on skates with your partner. During the session you'll learn around 10 core partner skating moves to get you flowing around a rink in confidence. Cost - £25 per person.
You can sign up individually or as a couple. We will swap partners throughout the session as it helps with learning, however if you'd rather stay with your partner throughout then you can do (just let us know).

This workshop is for confident beginners / intermediate skaters, but will start from the very beginning level with partner skating. You should be confident skating around a rink forwards and backwards, able to stop and fall safely, be able to do crossovers and to transition from forwards to backwards (just a simple step around turn) in both directions. If you're unsure then please ask and we can run though this with you.
ABOUT DREW

Drew has a long history with skating and dance, beginning with figure and partner ice skating in the late 80's. He then spent the late 90's skating with the famous dance scene in Hyde Park as well as leading weekly street skates in London and exploring all aspects of roller skating.
In the 2000s he started learning partner dance, Lindy Hop, Charleston and solo vernacular jazz dance and has taught swing dance in London and Bristol. His passion in recent years has been combining techniques from swing partner dancing into partner roller skating.

EQUIPMENT

You are responsible for bringing your own skates and equipment, and should also bring a water bottle.
Please wear all safety gear that you need to feel comfortable, however, wrist guards aren't advised as they make hand to hand connection difficult.
Indoor wheels are advised, whatever hardness you feel comfortable with.
Jam plugs or stoppers are both fine.
This is primarily a quads workshop, however the skills are transferable for inlines, so you can wear these if you want.
