To commemorate and celebrate the legacy of the Theodore M. Berry International Friendship Park, we will be hosting the 3rd annual “International Friendship Day”. The free event will take place in the outdoor areas around the Pavilion, which showcases original ceramic art tile created specifically for the park. The day will be filled with a non-stop mix of international entertainment, starting with Taiwanese Lion Dancers to open the event. From there you’ll be entertained by the Cincinnati-Dayton Japanese Taiko Drums, “Baja” Hispanic Dancers, Ukrainian Dancers, the German “Polka Warriors”, Salsa Dancing, and festive Caribbean Steel Drums, to name a few!
Visit colorful and interactive multi-cultural booths from Cincinnati’s Sister Cities in China, France, Germany, Japan, Taiwan, Ukraine, and Zimbabwe. We’ll also be joined by the Dayton Sister Cities as well as friends from Bulgaria, Columbia, and Italy. You’ll also have a rare opportunity to meet in person, renowned Japanese ceramic artist, Ikuhiko Shibata. He will be in the Japan booth with some of his work. Don’t miss this opportunity!
This year’s fun will include several Cincinnati community partners. Meet FC Cincinnati’s “Street Team” and mascot, Gary, the Knifey lion. Visti the new CAM Cruiser, for a look at the world of art. ABC (Activities Beyond the Classroom) will be there to engage the kid in you, and our friends from the Cincinnati Public Library, and CET Public Television, will also be there to keep you informed and entertained.
“Red Sesame” joins us as this year’s savory food truck, and will be joined by another, complimentary (drinks/desserts) food truck. Our Pavilion will be open and set up for your convenience. Come in and enjoy your lunch while viewing international student artwork.
For the first-time, we will also have two curated vendors with an international focus. You’ll have the chance to take home Japanese Baked goods from “Chiz’s Bakery” and adorn yourself with handmade African waistbeads from IMME Waistbeads & More.
