In partnership with the Barnard Astronomical Society, we are hosting a free event to celebrate International Dark Sky Week (IDSW) at the UTC Clarence T. Jones Observatory on the evening of Friday April 17 from 7-9 PM. This event is co-sponsored by the CTJO and BAS with the intent to provide the Chattanooga community an opportunity to learn more about how light pollution affects not just our ability to view the night sky but how responsible lighting is also safer and better for all living things.
The evening will include a short lecture on the topic of dark skies, highlighting the benefits of reducing light pollution, an accompanying planetarium show and related educational displays and demonstrations.
More info about IDSW and how to protect our night sky can be found using the links below.
