Books Between Worlds is an Amsterdam reading community for people who live between languages, cultures, and places. We read world-translated literature, and we gather in person for conversations to connect through words.
Once a month, we meet over drinks to talk about one book worth crossing a border for. No lectures. No pressure to sound clever. Just curious people and a real conversation.
This month's book
Perfection by Vincenzo Latronico, translated from the Italian by Sophie Hughes — shortlisted for the 2025 International Booker Prize.
Anna and Tom are living the dream in Berlin: the plant-filled apartment, the freelance creative life, the perfectly curated feed. But beneath the beautiful surface, something is quietly missing. A sharp, deceptively calm portrait of a generation chasing a life that always seems to be happening somewhere else.
