Shisha Embroidery Workshop with Saheli Women | AMSTERDAM July 23
About this Event
Shisha embroidery, also known as mirror work, is a centuries-old craft deeply rooted in the textile traditions of Rajasthan and Gujarat.
Originally created to reflect light and ward off negative energy, small mirrors were hand-stitched into garments worn for celebration, ceremony, and everyday adornment. Passed down through generations, the craft is known for its intricate embroidery, vibrant colours, and the way each tiny mirror catches movement and light.
We are excited to bring this tradition to London through a workshop where you will learn the foundation of shisha embroidery. Using reclaimed fabrics, mirrors, and colourful threads, you will explore traditional stitching techniques to embroider a piece of mirror onto a scarf.
