- Intentional Movement -Exploring Ecstatic Partner Dance // Fusion
We will workshop different concepts to help develop connection in a free flowing dance setting. Combining the structure and framework of partner dance with the freedom and conscious dance journeys of ecstatic dance.
This workshop will offer exercises on consent and connection. Providing tools to help invite/initiate dances, and respectfully decline/leave a dance. Discover different ways to connect with people within a dance space, exploring the roles of lead and follow, and navigate different frames to create conversation within a dance. Moving from Free-Flow solo dancing, to dancing with someone without contact, dropping into Open Frame, Closed, and Close frames. We'll explore how each offers different ways of connecting with self, other, and music.
We'll incorporate teachings from a number of dance styles: Fusion, Contact Improv, Kizomba, Tarraxo, Micro, Free Flowing Movements, Nia, and Flocking. And give a sense of how they can all come together and create something unique.
You don't need to have any dance/ partner dance experience to attend this event. Come alone or with friends.
