Step inside one of the nation’s most respected Indigenous language revitalization programs for a rare, behind-the-scenes look at how language, education, and community come together in powerful and practical ways. The Salish School of Spokane is widely recognized for its success in full-immersion language education and for developing innovative tools that support Indigenous language communities around the world. The day will begin with a tour of the School, including active immersion classrooms.
Participants will engage with educators and language leaders, and learn about proven strategies for revitalization, including the Indigenous Language Fluency Transfer System (ILFTS). Participants will return to the Spokane Convention Center for lunch, followed by an afternoon of presentations,
demonstrations, and dialogue. Attendees will leave with concrete ideas, tools, and inspiration to apply in their own communities and institutions.
