In-Production Bootcamp: The Producer’s Craft
About this Event
The Producer’s Craft is a three-day, hands-on bootcamp led by filmmaker Todd Hoffman, that takes aspiring & emerging producers through the producing process – from intellectual property and story development to on-set leadership.
You’ll leave with new skills, practical resources, and a stronger foundation for developing and producing your own projects.
Don’t miss your chance to gain unparalleled experience for your career!

WHAT TO EXPECT AT THE BOOTCAMP:
AMA INDUSTRY TALK: THE PRODUCER’S CRAFT
Get an inside look at the craft, business, and realities of producing in an Ask Me Anything with Todd Hoffman. Explore developing and evaluating IP, packaging talent, pitching and negotiating deals, and managing the creative, financial, and logistical demands of production. Bring your questions and gain practical insight into what it takes to bring a project from idea to set.
Saturday: IP, Rights & Story Development
Explore where producers find material, from books and journalism to true crime, comics, podcasts, video games, and life rights. Learn how producers evaluate potential projects, navigate options and rights, and build the foundations of a deal. You’ll put those skills into practice by evaluating potential IP, developing a hypothetical deal, pitching your choice, and exploring how writers, directors, cast, and financiers come together to package a project.
Sunday: Producing in Motion
Take your project into production with hands-on exercises covering budgeting, scheduling, production documents, and chain of command. Tackle realistic challenges involving talent, weather, safety, budgets, and competing priorities before working through a mock production meeting. The bootcamp culminates in a Greenlight Pitch, where teams develop and defend a project pitch to a mock greenlight committee.
