Teacher Workshop | Exploring Portraits as Mirrors and Windows
About this Event

Join Portrait Gallery educators and artist Helen Zughaib for a teacher workshop focused on identity, perspective, and empathy. In the first half, we’ll explore stories of Asian Americans featured in the museum’s collection. In the second half, Helen Zughaib will lead an art-making session designed to inspire activities teachers can bring to their classrooms. Participants will discover how art can create personal connections to history and foster empathy-driven learning. Attendees will leave with a toolkit of thinking routines, portraits, and classroom activities.

This program has been made possible through the generosity of Raymond L. Ocampo Jr. and Sandra Oleksy Ocampo.

The Portrait Gallery strives to provide programs that are accessible to all visitors. If you have questions about the accessibility of this program, or if you would like to request real-time captioning (CART), sign language interpretation, or any other accommodations, please contact [email protected]. Two weeks' advance notice is appreciated for requesting accommodations.
