Improv 700: Graduate Rehearsal and Performance

Welcome to the next level of your improvisation training! Come test your skills by working in an ensemble and learning new long-form formats. Collaborate with your classmates to create believable characters, inspiring scenes, and improv magic that captivates your audience.
The Improv 700 program is designed to help you further your improv skills, teach you new long -forms, and hone your talent. With three weeks of rehearsals followed by three Wednesday shows at the Market Theatre, you will have plenty of opportunities to showcase your new skills.

The three rehearsals will be 7-9:30 in Georgetown. The three performances at the Market Theater, in Pike Place Market, have a 6:30 call time, followed by a 7-7:45 show, followed by notes from 7:45 - 8:15.

Date and Time: 6 weeks, 3 Wednesdays, Apr 1 to Apr 15, 7:00pm to 10:00pm and 3 Wednesdays, Apr 22 to May 6, 6:30pm to 8:15pm

About Your Teacher: Mark Shone is an improviser and educator with over 25 years of experience performing and teaching improvisational theater and performance and public speaking skills. In addition to his extensive training with Unexpected Productions, he has enhanced his skills through two decades of workshops with luminaries such as Keith Johnstone, Randy Dixon, Roberta Maguire, and Patty Stiles, just to name a few. He began taking classes at UP in 1999, joined the ensemble in 2005, and began teaching at UP in 2018. Mark’s teaching style is a balanced blend of “learning through doing,” “scaffolded experiences,” and an “analytical approach to reflection.”
Mark is a veteran educator with three decades of teaching and educational leadership experience that spans from elementary school to high school and college, to adult learners. He is also a teacher of teachers and leads workshops in classroom management, pedagogy, and curriculum development. He is a MOTH Story Slam winner and dabbles in voice acting and commercial acting. His background comprises extensive singing and performing experience that includes choral groups, musical theater, Gilbert and Sullivan, operatic training, and a cappella singing. In his spare time, Mark is a licensed auctioneer, primarily raising money for schools and educational institutions.
