Art+Object has reopened for 2026 and is excited to announce that its first auction of 'Important Paintings and Contemporary Art' will take place on March 25. We are fortunate to already be able to announce several significant early consignments, including a major painting by Rita Angus to be offered to the market for the first time. The catalogue will also feature a strong sculptural component with a significant private collection of three major bronze sculptures by Paul Dibble and Terry Stringer, sure to incite considerable interest. In 2025, Art+Object led the New Zealand art auction market by some distance. The company finished with total published auction sales of $13 999 000, over $5 000 000 ahead of its nearest competitor. The robust results swam against the tide of the local economy and the broader art auction market.
Art+Object looks forward to another exciting year of auctions underscored by finely provenanced and well-edited catalogues featuring work by Aotearoa's leading artists of the twentieth and twenty-first centuries.
We now invite further entries for this catalogue and for our upcoming New Collectors auction, which includes 'An Imaginative Curiosity': The Greer Twiss Collection.
