Illumination & Protection: Crafting the Hag’s TaperStep into the ancient tradition of the Witch’s Candle in this hands-on workshop dedicated to the towering and protective Mullein plant. Known historically as Jupiter’s Rod or King’s Candle, these dried, wax-dipped flower stalks have served as torches since Roman times, providing both physical light and spiritual warding.
In this course, we will explore the deep folklore and practical magic of Mullein (Verbascum thapsus). Whether you call them Hag’s Tapers or Witch's Torches, these unique tools are essential for any practitioner looking to deepen their connection to traditional folk magic and seasonal ritual.
What You Will Learn:
* Historical Lore: Discover why Mullein is closely associated with Hecate, the goddess of the crossroads, and its long history as a guiding light for souls.
* Magickal Applications: Learn how to utilize these torches for protection and banishing, smoke-cleansing a home to repel nightmares, and enhancing psychic awareness during divination.
* Ritual Timing: We will discuss the significance of burning Mullein torches during Samhain to thin the veil, honor the ancestors, and clear stagnant energy.
* The Crafting Process: Master the technique of selecting second-year dried stalks and properly dipping them in beeswax to create a sturdy, long-lasting ritual torch.
*
Workshop Details:
* Harvesting & Preparation: We’ll cover how to identify and harvest stalks responsibly.
* Hands-on Dipping: Every student will coat and prepare their own Mullein torch to take home.
* Safety & Use: You will learn the proper way to trim, light, and safely burn these "candles" for outdoor or indoor fire-safe ritual work.
Light your path and clear the way. Join us to reclaim this "Olde World" craft and bring the protective glow of the Hag’s Taper into your own practice.
Note: All materials, including dried Mullein stalks and local beeswax, will be provided. Space is limited for this hands-on session.
