Huddersfield Urban Sketch Meet - November

Urban Sketching is a free, social activity enjoyed by peole all around the world.

Huddersfield Urban Sketch Meets are hosted by artist Jo Blaker & has been a steadily growing group since 2021. We're a friendly bunch & always welcome new folks. This is not a tutored event. You draw what you see, your way. Everyone is welcome. Every drawing is celebrated.

Here's how it works...

Everyone brings their own drawing equipment . There are no rules about materials - use whatever you like! No materials provided.

We meet & draw at a range of locations together. We tend to start with a few short warm up sketches, at a number of locations, before stopping in one place for a longer period & more independent drawing.

Each meet there is a different optional theme - sometimes folks give these a go during our warm up sketches then do their own thing for the longer drawing/s towards the end. The themes help us select subject matter & explore ways of approaching drawing it. They are entirely optional.

This is not a tutored event. You draw what you see, your way.

Then we head to a cafe to look at each others drawings & exchange supportive feedback.

No one will say what you've done is wrong. No one will say "you can't draw". No one will force you to share your work.

What if it chucks it down?

We've got our eye on a few covered but outdoor locations around the town centre that we will use incase of rain

What do I need to do?

Book a ticket to help us monitor numbers & contact you in event of cancellation/change of meeting location. If this event has sold out email to register your place instead - [email protected]

Choose & prepare sketching materials

Check a forecast on the day & dress appropriately
