Hosted by the Centre for Research in Music and its Technologies (CRMT) in collaboration with the Popular Music Studies Research Group (PMSRG).
The Huddersfield Music Research Showcase brings together researchers from the University of Huddersfield to present new work exploring contemporary issues in music, sound, and creative practice. The event offers an opportunity to hear short research talks, engage with current debates in music studies, and connect with colleagues interested in music and sound research.
This informal event highlights a range of topics including metal music production, immersive audio, collaborative songwriting, Eurovision songwriting camps, and the cultural politics of Anatolian rock. Attendees will gain insight into the diverse research activity taking place across the university’s music research community.
Featuring presentations by:
• Şebnem Altunkaya — Amplified Histories: The Politics of Anatolian Rock and the Resonances of the Saz
• Prof. Jan Herbst — Heaviness in Metal Music Production: Reflections on Contemporary Approaches to Music Research
• Prof. Hyunkook Lee — Dimensions of Immersive Audio Experiences
