About this Event

The feeds we scroll every day are shaped by algorithms most of us never see. They decide what shows up, what gets buried, and increasingly how we think and relate to one another. Purple Assembly invites you to an evening dedicated to understanding them.

Speakers Cody Sovis, a digital marketing and social media professional, Abagail McKiernan, founder of HelpLink and Spark in the Dark, will explore how these systems work, the impact they have on us as individuals, and what they're doing to our relationships and our community. Ed Ronco from Interlochen PUblic Radio  will be joining us as well to talk about the role of the press and how it’s changed to one of convening public dialogue. We'll also share results from our community survey to date.

Purple Assembly is a Traverse City group founded on the belief that — even in a red-vs-blue world — we have more in common than not. All are welcome. This event is proudly sponsored by.
